Kimono patterns

This is a white kimono with beautiful gold pattern of the foothills.
It is elegant, and can be dressed beautifully.
Cherry blossoms, the spring flower, and red leaves which can be seen in autumn are depicted on this
kimono.
Patterns and motifs on kimono signify various things; the meaning of the flowers and the leaves depicted on this kimono is as follows.

Cherry blossoms

The national flower of Japan.
Japanese people are very affectionate of cherry blossoms, and it is the widely popular pattern for
furisode (long-sleeved kimono). It signifies “prosperity” and “abundance”, for cherry blossoms come in full bloom all at once.

Red leaves

Maples signify “longevity”.
It also signifies “to be good at socializing and be happy”, for maple leaves change the color by season and entertain people with the beautiful colors.

The patterns on this kimono are cherry blossoms in full bloom and red leaves; it depicts the “fictional season” where cherry blossoms and red leaves exist at the same time.
It does not signify any of four seasons, and thus can be worn regardless of the season.

Kyoto and kimono

The taste and the sense of beauty unique to Kyoto

Kyoto is a city where the culture of “kimono” has been nurtured and cherished for a long time. Kimono does not just exist as one of the ways to dress, but there are the spirit, the technique and the lives of those who love kimono in Kyoto.

Hiroshi Fujii, the designer who inherited the spirit and the technique of the Kyoto tradition and designed kimono for members of the Imperial Family as well, produced this kimono from making a rough sketch, dyeing to the finishing touch.

The gradation of colors, which represents gorgeousness in its chicness, makes Japanese women look beautiful.
